Pictures from Owen's Dedication:

We were so happy that Grandma and Grandpa Takamoto were here in Sendai with us.  Eric's mom read Owen's special verse in Japanese.

Why we Chose Owen's Name:

Owen's name was picked carefully!  Every time we had a new idea for a boy's name, we would consult our Japanese friends and see if it "worked" in Japanese.  We found several names that clearly didn't work, either because of the pronunciation or the Japanese meaning associated with the name.  Two of Sue's sisters suggested the name Owen, and Eric immediately loved it.  It wasn't until Sue researched the meaning of the name that she too was sold on it.  Owen means:
--young fighter, born of nobility
-lamb
--God's gracious gift

After knowing Owen's unique birth story, we are convinced he is a young fighter!  And we also are thankful that as God's child, he IS born of nobility.  He is clearly God's gracious gift to us.
